It’s no secret that I love Mexico.  I’ve shared my love of Punta Mita and special hotels like Imanta.  Today, I’m bringing you Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, resort cities on the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula, collectively known as Cabo.  I recently my packing list for the girl’s trip I just took with three friends.  It was just what the doctor ordered!

Cabo San Lucas, is known for its beaches, water-based activities and nightlife.  There is a large marina with a glitzy mall in the center of town.  Past the marina is Land’s End promontory, site of Playa del Amor (Lover’s Beach) and El Arco, a natural archway in the seacliffs, a very famously photographed spot I’m sure you’ve seen photos of before.

San José del Cabo is a resort city on the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula. It’s known for its sandy beaches and colonial buildings. The San José missionary church, rebuilt in 1940, faces Plaza Mijares in the heart of the historic district. Nearby art galleries exhibit work by local artists. East of the city is San José Estuary, a nature reserve with bird species like hummingbirds, ibis and herons.

This trip we stayed at Casa Del Mar situated about 1/2 between the two towns.  It is a beautiful, quiet beach and golf resort and the perfect place to experience both.  We have friends from Mexico City who own homes in Cabo who recommended the resort and say the golf is superb.  It is situated on a beautiful beach between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, right next to Las Ventanas.  My husband and I have stayed at Las Ventanas and it is a gorgeous resort and perfect for a getaway with your love.

The first night we had dinner at Flora Farms.  It is everything it was rumored to be and more.  I’ve never been to such a gorgeous setting and had such amazing food.  The open air bar with live music was the perfect place to settle in and catch up with my friends.  We also enjoyed Nicksan – amazing sushi- and Agua at the One and Only La Palmilla.  The last time we were in Cabo with our friends from Mexico they took us to another beautiful organic farm restaurant called El Tamarindo.  The chef’s creations are creative and fresh and I still think about the chocolate tamales we had for dessert.

Being able to spend time in on the beach relaxing with a Serrano Margarita in hand is medicine for my soul.  It was the perfect long weekend to rest and relax.  Below are my recommendations for hotels and restaurants – all of which my husband and I have enjoyed on our trips to Cabo.  I hope you’ll share your go-to spots in Cabo with me.
