As a busy family, getting dinner to the table is a struggle most nights. As a busy family with severe food allergies, eating out or even picking up dinner isn’t easy. Plus, what I really want is something healthy and tasty! Those criteria make it triple difficult. Enter SAVOR Culinary Services.
I am a big believer in the benefits of good food and the affect our diets can have on our health. When Chef Deb and her team reached out to me to try their services, I was extremely excited! Food that met all of our dietary needs and was fresh, organic and oven ready when it arrives? Yes, please!
SAVOR Culinary Services is a personal chef company that has been serving the DFW Area for more than 15 years. They care about the families they feed because Chef Deb knows first hand about food challenges and the healing properties of food.
Chef Deb was a physical therapist when she realized that her patients weren’t always healing as quickly as they should. Around this same time, she read about programs that trained personal chefs. This career was appealing because she had an infant son. She then trained as a professional chef at several highly accredited programs.
When her son was four years old, he received medical diagnoses that categorized him as high functioning autistic with severe ADHD among other things. After extensive research on the autism spectrum and the effects of gluten in children, she changed his diet while starting a culinary business. Sharing the positive effects this was having on him, others who wanted to heal themselves through food were attracted. One client turned into five, then came a restaurant, and then other five businesses.
Her son wound up as a starter on the football team, a member of the honor guard, had numerous friends, and was a straight A student. Only one thing changed, and it was food. Deb knew there were other families out there and she wanted to help. Thus, SAVOR was born.
We had three meals delivered a few weeks ago and they were amazing. My family was so impressed! Because I do cook a lot and develop recipes, they are a tough audience. After filling out a detailed Food Questionnaire online, Chef Deb called to discuss my answers. She then created an amazing menu for our approval. Next, our meals were delivered in Pyrex dishes, labeled and ready for the oven with perfect heating instructions you can see above. Each dish only took 10-20 minutes to finish in the oven. So convenient!
Our menus were:
- Wild Caught Cod with Corn Succotash, Lemon Basil Baby Carrots, and Romaine and Spinach Salad with Texas Citrus and Shallots.
- Roasted Organic Chicken with Texas Plum Sauce, Creamy Russet Potatoes with Summer Kale, and Borracho Black Beans.
- Grass-Fed Beef Tenderloin with Cauliflower Puree, Caramelized Brussels Sprouts, and Butternut Squash with Turkey Bacon Topping.
Our favorite was the Cod but each meal was truly wonderful and there was so much of it! The portions are quite generous so we had several of the sides another night!
