One of my 2018 Resets was organization.  My Master Closet, Home Office and Pantry are at the top of the list.  Last year, Tonia Tomlin from Sorted Out, reached out to me about working together and I’m thrilled to share our work as we complete it.  Today, I’m sharing my Master Closet Organization.

Tonia is a certified, professional organizer who has been featured on HGTV, Martha Stewart and more.  She has a Level 1 and 2 Certification in the Study of Chronic Disorganization and ADHD.  She is just the gal to get you organized not matter your state.  I am so thankful she found me!  I like to think I’m fairly organized but a lot of times it’s just organized chaos.

Here are a few before photos….be kind!  I’m being honest here! 🙂

AND NOW FOR THE FABULOUS AFTER PHOTOS!

One of the best parts of working with Tonia and her crew on this project is that I actually gained space!  I gained a shelf in each of my built in cabinets where I keep my shoes and handbags.  That is a lot of space!  It got all of my shoes and boots off of the floor.

In one section, where I had a mix of folded totes and folded scarves, she put things in these great white woven baskets using bin clips to label them.  My middle daughter has great handwriting and loves lettering so she created the labels for me.  I loved having her involved in the process.  (Her closet is next!) We also used these fun pink baskets with the labels to organize my clutches.  It is so much easier to find them by color category and is a great use of the deep shelves over my hanging clothes which was wasted space before.

I absolutely love the jumbo command hooks on the back of the island!  I used to have just a pile in the back of the closet or laying under the hanging clothes.  This way I can see it all, know what I have and find it easily. Plus, it’s a better way to store them to prevent damage.

Hangers and hanger clips are a big issue.  I had a mix up of the huggable hangers and weird clips as did Scott.  We changed them all to match and it gave us more room and good uniformity as well.  Visual clutter can be an issue in any space.  No distractions is a good thing for me.

The way they used the drawer organizer inserts (all styles below) in the drawers also helped me gain a lot of space.  There are two levels in the deeper drawers.  The filling system they used in every drawer makes everything so visible.  No more digging for something.  Filing my shorts actually helps me to be able to keep them in a drawer year round rather than putting them up in the overhead storage.  It was always such a pain to get them down for a warm weather trip in the winter.

Also, having a beautiful box instead of a tray for all the random things you have in you closet – scissors, lint brush, extra buttons, pens, etc. – on the island is so much better than the tray I was using for this purpose.  Plus, this faux shagreen box is gorgeous.  Scott has well instead of an open valet tray.  It’s so much cleaner looking.

Tonia and her crew are master jewelry organizers as well.  They took the beautiful jewelry trunk Scott gave me one year and organized it so efficiently!  I had no idea what some of these inserts were for.  Now, I can find everything so easily.

You know I love a good bracelet and the bowls I was using weren’t cutting it.  I’m an “out-of-sight-out-of-mind” person but I still couldn’t see them well enough to really wear them all.  This three-tiered stand is perfect and holds them all.
