Bernhardt Tufted Bed / Bernhardt Side Tables / Euro Shams / Standard Shams / Duvet / Accent Pillow / Similar Wing Chair (here for less) / Alpaca Throw / Similar Garden Stool / Art by Jenn Thatcher

With summer travel upon us, I’m excited to share our guest room with you as inspiration for your own. Creating a welcoming space with a few personal touches makes a guest feel welcome and appreciated.  This post has been a long time in the making! After fits and starts with some construction, I am thrilled that it’s finally complete.

I really wanted this room to have a light and airy feel.  By using shades of white and gray, I think I have created the exact atmosphere I wanted. My parents stayed with last night  and were thrilled with their new space. They are really the guests we have most often.

The centerpiece of this gorgeous guest room is the upholstered bed from Bernhardt. I love the tall, tufted headboard with its gracious curve. The curved detail helps to soften the large headboard, helping it to feel very cozy!  The pale gray woven fabric has a bit of a masculine touch, but the soft color, curves, and button tufting make it soft and feminine.

I’ve finished the bed with tailored, beautiful Beach Club Border bedding from Serena and Lily. Serena and Lily has the most beautiful selection of bedding. I also love this beautiful print. The accent pillow has gorgeous gold metallic embroidery.  I love the sweet tassel detail.

This Beach Border Club bedding comes in several different color combinations and in their new bedding set collection. With one click, Serena and Lily sends you everything you need to make a beautiful bed in several styles!  Their Beach Club sheet set, which coordinates perfectly with the duvet and shams is crisp, cotton percale and incredibly soft.

The bed is flanked by the beautiful Damonica nightstand, also from Bernhardt. I love the gray, textured finish of the wood and the brushed nickel hardware. These nightstands provide enough surface area for a few decorative items and your guests’ things as well. The drawer provides additional storage space. I have highlighted some of my favorite design books and accessories in the alcoves below.

I also included a hammered silver tray and a set of glasses and carafe for water at night. I always find myself going downstairs for a glass of water before bed. Having thoughtful touches like this makes a guest room feel even more welcoming.

I am in love with the custom lamps I had made for our master bedroom and wanted to replicate this feeling in a bit more economical way for the lamps in the guest room. I was thrilled to find these alabaster lamps! The base is a quatrefoil shape, which adds softness to the white stone. Topped with a white linen shade and polished nickel finial they are the perfect jewel for these beautiful nightstands.

The bed and nightstands sit a top the most gorgeous rug from Lillie Kat Rugs, a trusted resource for online rugs. Lillie Kat carries both one-of-a-kind and new rugs. You can find their website here and find them on Instagram at Lillie Kat Rugs.  This is a new rug that features the design of a one-of-a-kind piece. The colors and the swag are fresh and up-to-date.

Lillie Kat’s selection of rugs is organized by color and style, making it so easy to find just the rug you are looking for.  I’ll be sharing more on how to purchase Lilllie Kat rugs online soon!

The artwork in this room truly makes me happy! The first piece is a custom creation from my good friend Jenn Thatcher. You can find her website here and her Instagram here. She created this custom design according to the colors I wanted to highlight in this room. I shared the colors of the rug and other colors that I wanted to incorporate in the room with Jenn and she created this custom piece just for my guest room. You can see Jenn’s other work in my home in these posts: family room reveal, master bedroom reveal and Jenn Thatcher Art. Jenn has sold many prints of her work in my family room, and I am thrilled that it hangs in other people’s homes as well. I hope you’ll reach out to her for a print or custom work for your home! You will not be disappointed!

Next to the painting, I have placed a white linen upholstered wing chair and gray alpaca throw from Serena and Lily. This throw is the gray version of the beautiful blue throws that I have in my family room. These are the coziest throws, and I really could have them in every room! You know I love garden stools as side tables. I have added a piece of my import blue and white porcelain pottery with an orchid to finish. I love mixing blue and white pieces with the other beautiful colors in my home.

Across the room are two photos I took on our travels.  The one on the left is Venice from our visit last summer.  The one on the right is a door in St. Andrews that I took when I my oldest daughter went to summer school there a few years ago. (I promise that post is coming!!)  I printed these at Walgreens in the poster size for $29 each!  The frames are old from the craft store.

One of the biggest challenges in this room is the curved wall of windows. When I added drapes to this room years ago, having a custom rod made was cost-prohibitive! There are a lot of options now, but I chose to stick with my original solution, a wire curtain rod setup from IKEA. The drapery panels I chose for this room were also another budget find. I actually think they turned out beautiful, and don’t think that I would’ve done anything different. These cotton drapery panels come in a pair.  I had them pressed at our cleaners.  I used these brushed nickel rings and attached them at the top of the panel, using five per panel. I simply folded in the tops of the drapes to create this soft look.

That construction issue that I hinted at above is related to this wall. I actually love my plan B!  My original plan was to take out this storage cabinet and counter that we had installed when this was our playroom and media room before we had the Cabana.  When we moved into the home, it was full of small cubby holes and cabinets, as it had also been a game room for the previous family. We removed that bookcase and created the space you currently see. It housed our 96 inch flatscreen TV which is now in the teen room/cabana. We have a very large linen closet in the hallway next to this room, where I’ve installed a rod for hanging clothes for guests. It was much too labor-intensive to add a closet in this space and I wanted to leave it with the option of being a game room if we were ever to sell this home.

The countertops are Casearstone in Montblanc. I have filled one of my favorite vases with these beautiful silk blooming branches that you also see in my family room. I’m not big on silk florals but these are beautiful! Additionally, I created a coffee station for guests in the morning. Having a coffee bar has been a big trend in master bedrooms for the past several years, so I thought it would be a nice addition to our guest room. I think this Plan B doesn’t seem like Plan B at all!

The cabinets below have baskets that serve as pull out drawers once the cabinets are open.  I wanted to keep the ability for someone else to use this room as a media room if we ever sell.  I installed a mini refrigerator so that my parents have a quick and easy access to Diet Coke, coffee, and orange juice.  Dad and I both like to start the day with a glass of fresh juice!Bernhardt Tufted Bed / Bernhardt Side Tables / Euro Shams / Standard Shams / Duvet / Accent Pillow / Similar Wing Chair (here for less) / Alpaca Throw / Similar Garden Stool / Art by Jenn Thatcher

I hope you’ve enjoyed my guest room reveal. All of the details are listed below. (The paint color is Benjamin Moore Sail Cloth at 50%.) If I’ve missed anything or you have additional questions, please leave them in the comments below and I’ll be sure to get back to you! You can tour the rest of my home here, including my master bedroom (here, too), outdoor living (also here), family room, kitchen, breakfast room, home office and cabana.

Love this! My dining room is Bernhardt and it’s the grey wood. It’s so gorgeous! I actually just purchased a bed from them, too… but I’m still looking for nightstands. These might be the right ones to help finish off the room!! I love that Jenn Thatcher print. Her work is so beautiful.
