I love celebrating the Fourth of July! Creating a fun July 4th Tablescape is one of my favorite summer activities. Today, I want to share tips for setting the perfect July 4th Tablescape.
Over the years, I’ve shared several beautiful patriotic tablescapes. To inspire your July 4th tablescape, I thought it would be fun to showcase them all in one post for you along with how I decide on what to include.
I love mixing and matching my favorite pieces to create a new tablescape each time. These are easily recreated with things you have at home: your favorite white or blue and white pieces, woven placemats, candles or lanterns. Many of the things I use on the table or as a centerpiece have other more permanent uses in my decor. I shared more about that here and here. So look around and see what you could add to your tablescape!
TIPS FOR SETTING THE PERFECT JULY 4TH TABLESCAPE
- Decide on a foundation color. It can be red, white blue or a even natural linen color.
- Choose your table linens. You can use a great tablecloth like this one or table runner and placemats.
- Don’t be afraid of the mix! Combine your solid and patterned dinnerware with striped linens.
- Create your center piece with fresh flowers. White hydrangea are easy to find and versatile. Add red roses or blue delphinium or simply American Flags.
- Include a few fun details to your table. Clean and simple with flowers is beautiful but try a bit of layering by adding to it a few candles and lanterns. Tie the napkins with ribbon. Add felt stars. Tuck a small flag in each napkin ring. Load your favorite vase with flags. Use your favorite indoor decor like blue and white import pieces. Include other fun red, white and blue elements.

Last week, I shared my tips for Easy Outdoor Summer Entertaining and told you with just a few changes that tablescape would become my July 4th Tablescape. This is that table!
Much like my Thanksgiving and Christmas tablescapes a few years ago, I made just a few changes and completely changed the theme of the table. I started the table with my new favorite pieces from Juliska’s melamine collection, Splatter Spin, added rich red napkins, bamboo napkin rings, new flowers and voila! Happy July 4th!
The woven table runner I used in the holiday tablescapes a mentioned above and love the bit of lurex shine. We use these cloth napkins at every meal. I have them in several of the 24 colors available. They are high quality, wash well and only $9.99 for 6. This table would be great with my signature pop of pink, too! I’m loving using these wicker placemats. They add great texture to the table and are easy to clean.
I’ll definitely be using my Tips for Easy Outdoor Entertaining all summer. We typically have 5 or 6 families over and everyone has such a great time. I’ve been adding to my collection of nonbreakable plates, bowls and drinkware. The Isabella pitcher, tumblers and cups match my melamine Berry and Thread pattern seen here as well. Juliska patterns are easy to intermix.

CLASSIC BLUE AND WHITE WITH A DASH OF RED

The navy striped runner and placemats were my starting point. Adding a pop of red with the napkins gives it a Patriotic July 4th look but would be equally gorgeous with navy and other colors of napkins. You know I’ll add my favorite pop of pink! We use these napkins at every meal. I love a good quality cloth napkin at a great price.
I kept the flowers simple with white hydrangeas and delphinium and used Tiffany Basketweave vases I’ve had for years. It is nice to have some good basics in your “party closet” to use over and over. I’m working on a post on my “party closet” and the items you need to have on hand to set your table at a moments notice and will share it soon.

This Patriotic Blue and White Tablescape is the sister to my Blue and White Summer Tablescape with a few simple changes. Funny story…one of the simple changes/additions I forgot to make was adding small American Flags to my flowers! We were on Day 4 of having no electricity because of crazy storms in Dallas and this table was the last thing we photographed. I was HOT, sweating and frazzled and totally forgot! So, for an extra fun, patriotic table, add the flags!
This is an example of don’t be afraid to take something you display on a mantel or shelf and incorporate it in your centerpiece. I originally used the lanterns on the deck steps at this outdoor party and the many of the blue and white pieces live in my family room.
These darling red and white gingham placemats set the tone for a fun, casual July 4th cookout. They would be great with just a red and white theme BBQ dinner table setting as well.
I layered these blue and white splatter paint melamine dinner plates over the placemats. You’ll remember them from this summer tablescape. I’ve loved using them since last summer! You’ll be seeing them again as they go so well with our new Blue and White Outdoor Living update.

SHOW YOUR PATRIOTISM WITH AMERICAN FLAGS
A simple but elegant table is my typical style. Having great basics like this blue vase, make setting a festive table easy. My blue vases are actually from Tiffany and used when I chaired the Junior League of Dallas Ball years ago but work well with this causal setting, too. Tuck some American flags in hydrangeas and, voila, July 4th centerpieces. I added these red and cream striped placemats, jute table runner and napkins tied with a woven red ribbon I picked up at the local craft store.
