One of the most asked questions when I revealed my family room is “Where did you get the art?” I’m excited to share more about the amazingly talented artist who created the custom art work you see in my family room, Jenn Thatcher.
Jenn is a self-taught artist living in Dallas, Texas. After her third child was born, Jenn left a career as a consultant for a Wall Street firm. The endless travel and constant stress were too much her and her family. “I fell into painting by accident and because I had no formal training I was unafraid to try practically anything,” said Jenn. “I think this is why there is so much variety in my work because I am always trying new things and techniques.”
This is one of the things that drew me to Jenn and her work. You don’t see something and say, “That’s Jenn Thatcher.” She is inspired by God and His creation and is blessed to be able to support organizations that are important to her such as schools, foundations and the A21 campaign. Jenn says “Each canvas is a metaphor for life, it starts clean and new, and sometimes it goes a direction we love, and sometimes it goes a direction we don’t love, but we can keep going, we can paint over it and turn it into something beautiful in the end.”
She was such a joy to work with to create this amazing piece. We met at my home to look at the space where I wanted to hang the art, talk about colors, look at my fabric selections and look at different styles of her work. She left with measurements, fabric samples and an idea of what I wanted. When she texted me photos, I was amazed at how perfectly she had captured our conversation about style and color! I am absolutely thrilled with her beautiful work.
She says that her corporate sales background makes her completely obsessed with making my customers happy. I can’t imagine anyone would not be! Jenn is such a kind and generous person and her heart truly shows in each of her works.
Jenn now ships paintings around the world. You can find her work at retailers and galleries through the US, as well as online collections through her website, Serena and Lily and well + wonder collective.
I wish I had taken a photo of my husband’s face when he first saw the painting. It was truly priceless. He said, “This painting makes the room. It is just the finishing touch it needed.” I couldn’t have said it better myself, dear.
