I love a great coat or jacket. A few years ago, I had to stop myself from buying them! Having the right topper, makes me feel really put together. Here is a collection of the Best Coats from classic tailored coats to trendy puffer jackets to make sure you have your bases covered!
A beautiful dress coat is a must-have. A wrap coat is a great option, super chic, and easy to style. It’s also very flattering. This navy wrap coat is gorgeous and comes in multiple colors. You can throw it over and dress and boots and easily elevate your entire outfit.
Ivory Puffer Jacket / Fair Isle Sweater / Corduroy Pants / Ballet Mules
Black Puffer Jacket / Black Turtleneck / VB Camo Jeans / Black YSL Sac du Jour Tote
Canada Goose Parka / Sorel Boots
Puffer Jackets are a must for Winter. This one with a removable faux fur collar is so versatile. I love this silky black light puffer, too. Both are great with a casual look like these but also to throw over workout clothes and you’re out the door cute and warm. The 3/4 Canada Goose Parka is the warmest I own and I LOVE it! It’s worth every penny. I’m eyeing a black one next.
Similar Peacoat // Shirt // Similar Handbag
This is a classic black peacoat that I love wearing during the fall. I added it to a crisp white shirt and on-trend jeans to make a really chic outfit. When I posted this on Instagram, I got so many comments and direct messages asking for details. I purchased it several years ago in pink which reminds me of this current beauty. The texture is beautiful and it is amazingly soft! You can find more options for each of the coat categories in the boutique below!
I’ve loved wearing this “teddy” or faux shearling coat for several years. I get asked about it every time I wear it. It’s warm and cozy and adds a bit of novelty to any look. I’ve linked a lot of similar coats below.
Similar Trench / Denim / Sandals
An Iconic Trench Coat is a must in any wardrobe. It can immediately chic up any look from jeans or workout clothes to a beautiful dress or a turtleneck and slacks. The first is a past-season Banana Republic trench with a few modern details and the second is a very classic cut. You’ll see both below.
Best Coats for Fall and Winter
Classic Tailored Coat – I purchased this camel coat 5 years ago and it’s my most worn coat. It goes with everything, is so warm and the simple styling is perfect. I get asked about it every time I wear it. I also love this one or this one. Keep scrolling to shop more options!
Peacoat – Black or navy is most traditional but you can’t go wrong with a great color either. This is also a great option if you want gold buttons.
Parka or Puffer Coat – This 3/4 coat is the Canada Goose Parka I own. I wear it on the coldest days running errands around town and at windy, winter soccer games (read very often). It is perfect in the mountains, too, shopping or heading out to dinner. Let’s face it, even here it gets cold in January and February and this coat is my best friend. This and this are also great options for warmth and length.
Iconic Trench – The second must-have coat is a trench. Stay dry in style and add instant chic to any outfit. This beauty is truly classic with its iconic, trademark coat.
Teddy or Shearling Coat – These fun novelty coats are a great addition to your wardrobe. Dressed up or down, they are warm and stylish.
Dress Coat – I purchased a long cashmere-blend coat with fox trim in charcoal gray 18 years ago and still love wearing it on cold days or when I’m dressed up for an event or church.
You’ll find a full boutique of these classic coats for Winter below. Do you have all of these in your wardrobe? Which is your favorite?

I love the ivory puffer! But the sockless mules styled with it made me smile. We have 18″ of snow on the ground – I’m definitely wearing socks and full shoes for the next 60 days. 🙂
Hi Shushy,
It is really crazy how the weather differs around the US! Most “winter” days here no socks are required!
Stay warm!
