Cement Tile / LVT Flooring / Acrylic Pulls / Baldwin Door Knobs / Hexagon Floor Tile / Pagoda Mirror / Rug / Fatboy Bean Bags / Shower Insert
I am so excited to share this great project with you! We are renovating the “guest apartment” space above our garage to create a fun Cabana / Game Room and Pool Bath. I am partnering with Wayfair and participating in their #Wayfair1RoomReno project.
Last year when we put in our pool, I just didn’t have the mental capacity to take on this project. Nothing like a party to get your home ready, right? We are hosting an fairly large dinner and swim party here in May and also one summer of wet kids walking through in my house is enough!
For the past 12 years, we’ve used this space as our guest room when my parents visit. Because the girls were young when we moved here (we actually only had 2 girls then!), we used the guest room as a play room. Now that they are older and don’t use that room really at all, we are flipping the spaces to make a Cabana/Game Room and Pool Bath out there and Guest Room inside.
Today, I’m sharing the Mood Board of items I’ve selected from Wayfair for the renovation and photos of the space before demo began. I’ve saved several photos and videos on my Instagram Stories so you can see the whole process from start to finish.
BEFORE
We wanted to bring down the wall between the two spaces but quickly found out that it was load bearing, so no go on that one. Instead, to brighten and open the space, we will remove the upper cabinets and give it all a fresh coat of soft white paint. This printed cement tile will be the backsplash above the new countertop. Updated acrylic and nickel hardware will replace the dated pulls on the cabinets that are being painted a high gloss navy.
To replace the uber worn carpet, we are using a vinyl tile that resembles hardwoods but is so much easier to care for. Wayfair has a huge selection of colors of this new flooring option. This product is really gaining popularity and I’m so excited to have it.
The biggest change and focus of the #Wayfair1RoomReno is the bathroom. These photos make it look a lot better than it truly did. Nothing in this space had been touched since it was built 28 years ago! The large, fiberglass, drop in tub was extremely yellowed and had cracked. The sink was integrated into the countertop – cultured marble, I think they called it – and had yellowed, as well. The tile flooring was dated and cracked.
The tub is being replaced with this clean-lined shower and gleaming new hardware. The new sink fixture is chic and updated. And just wait until you see the navy lacquered pagoda mirror! We chose an updated hexagon white tile for the floor.
The whole project is going fairly quickly so be sure to check for updates on Instagram and back here in a few weeks when I post the full reveal of the finished space with art and accessories!
