Checking In On You

by | LIfestyle

What an unbelievable week it has been.  I had intended to post (some fun content) before now but a lot has changed in the world and I wanted to reach out and check in on you.

We are all home together and sticking close to the house much to my teens’ chagrin but they definitely understand it is what is best for not just us but our friends, family, city and country.  I’ve been amazed at how people in my area seem to be taking things seriously with keeping social distance when you need to go out for groceries, etc.  There is also a spirit of kindness and concern that is palpable.  I hope that has been your experience as well.

I’ve been sharing the past week on Instagram but wanted to update you here as well.  Wednesday, Pepperdine University announced they were closing campus and moving to distance learning, just three days after we returned from the JW Marriott Los Cabos.  I flew to LA to help my oldest pack up while she attended her last in-person classes and said good bye to her sweet friends and new home.   It is nice to all be home together during this uncertain time.

As our younger girls’ schools have announced closures as well, we are making a plan to make the best of this “gift of time” as my husband said at dinner last night.  We are planning on going through mine and Scott’s childhood keepsakes and tell funny stories, go through family photos and update photo albums or create photo books online, play lots of games like rummy cube and Yahtzee!, reading our family Bible study: Bob Goff’s Live in Grace, Walk in Love that I gave everyone for Christmas, get to the organization projects we’ve been thinking of doing, baking, grilling out, taking walks and just snuggling watching movies.  I want to do an Google Hangout with my family in Kansas City, too.  Our family text has been good but seeing their faces will be a welcome comfort.  I encourage you to FaceTime and try Google Hangout as well.

How are you handling this situation?  I’d love to know what you and your family are doing.  I am praying that what we are doing will flatten the curve and that our country and the world will be healed.  Know that I am praying for you!  Our pastor shared a sermon on Sunday that I shared on Instagram Stories and so many listened to and let me know they enjoyed.  I want to share it with you here, too.  You can watch it on YouTube or on Facebook (FB has the music as well!)  It is uplifting and filled with hope!  He will speak again tomorrow night at 7pm.

When I asked on Sunday what you wanted to see on IG and the blog, overwhelmingly you responded with light content so that is what I’ll continue to share.  I do have some great Spring Style and home content planned as well as some travel content from our trip to Cabo.  We all need a little to daydream about, right!  I have something fun coming your way that we are tweaking a bit and I hope to share it Friday.

Blessings to you and your family for health and safety.
