French Press Pastries – Marvelous Macarons

by | Entertaining, Sweets

I try really hard to “stick to my story” food-wise here on The Lush List…you know gluten-free and nut-free.  But sometimes something is just too tempting.  I mean, I personally don’t have to eat nut-free.  I do so for the health and safety of two of my daughters.  It really isn’t a sacrifice….but I LOVE French Macarons.  So when my friend Tanya Foster (Film, Fashion, Fun) and I were introduced to Pastry Chef Kelsey Turnage of French Press Pasteries and her French Macarons, I knew I’d have to try them.  And, well, I do share all things food with you, so….

Kelsey is Shreveport, Louisiana and graduated from Baylor University with a degree in business.  After graduation, she pursued her passion for baking by attended the International Culinary Center outside of San Francisco, California seeking a knowledge of all things pastry. After culinary school, Kelsey worked with Chef Mellisa Root at the Michelin-starred restaurant Madera. “I love the creative aspects of my job and making sweets that are just as beautiful as they are delicious,” says Kelsey.

She makes the most amazing, authentic French Macarons.  She brought a few of each flavor for us to try.  She is darling and her macarons are simply gorgeous!

Look at the detail on the top of the Black Currant, hand-painted with edible glitter.  Stunning!

Of course the Creamy Salty Caramel was my favorite!

We obviously had too much fun tasting them!
Macarons are $1.80 each or $21 for a dozen.  Boxes are 5 for $9 and 10 $18.  Small boxes are a great party favor.  The spring flavors include: passion fruit, earl grey, mango, key lime, pink lemonade, lychee rose, raspberry with mascarpone cream (with a fresh raspberry hidden inside!), milk chocolate turtle, as well as, the traditional flavors dark chocolate, creamy salted caramel, and lavender honey.

So if you are in the Dallas area and are only gluten-free or have no food allergies at all, you need to place an order quickly with French Press Pastries for Easter.  The deadline for Easter orders is Wednesday April, 1st.  She does deliver so be sure to ask her about that as well.
She actually ships her chocolates in the US.
Let me know if you order!  You’ll be so glad you did!
xoxo
