Creating a beautiful home brings me a lot of joy. Designing this peaceful and glamorous gray and white bedroom with a pop of color with my middle daughter was a great way to spend time together during the safer at home time we had this spring. It was fun to create a space she loves and great timing with hybrid school happening in our home.
If you’ve seen our master bedroom, you know that it is very serene. A soothing shade of white with a touch of platinum gray makes this room a peaceful retreat for the rest of our busy house. When we talked about what she wanted her room to look like she said I wanted to look like yours! I took that as a huge compliment coming from a teenager!
This beautiful duvet and Euro shams from Serena and Lily served as a launching point. Are you seeing a trend? This quilt was the launching point for my youngest daughter’s blue and white bedroom and was also from Serena and Lily. Serena and Lily is one of my favorite destinations for beautiful bedding and home decor. I’m working on a special project with them and can’t wait to share it with you!
She wanted a white upholstered headboard and I once again turned to Serena and Lily. We ordered sample swatches of their white fabrics and match them to the shade of white that is the background in her linens. The original quilt I ordered for her bed was not the right shade of white so I actually used it in her older sister’s new room in her house! I was thrilled to find this beautiful set at Bed, Bath and Beyond.
As with all rooms in my home there are places where I splurged and places to save. The comforter, where I knew she would sit and do homework or FaceTime friends was definitely a place to save. Another great “save” item are these sheets. I have two sets for each of the girls beds. They are so soft and wrinkle free that I bought a set for us, too! My college daughter has these on her bed as well. They are on my list of College Care Package items as well. The lamps were a bit of a splurge for a teenager’s room. However, they are a classic shape and I know will be a part of my lamp collection for many years. I’m about to do a “round robin” in my house so they may even move soon! Shhhh!
Next, we selected these great black out Roman shades with grosgrain ribbon trim from Pottery Barn Kids. They are working Roman shades and easily adjust. As in the other rooms of our home, I have blackout honeycomb shades on the widows so we set these in place and let them serve a decorative purpose. I found the drapes for my younger daughter’s room here, too. Pro Tip: Don’t be afraid to look at “baby” and “kids” sites to see what they have! Children’s rooms are much more sophisticated than they used to be and these items can be used in many places!
She wanted a touch of glamour so we selected a mirrored dresser and mirrored side tables. The side tables were a great bargain find that were so easy to assemble. They are very heavy and I am really pleased with the quality especially for the price! Pro Tip: Off the beaten path online stores are a great place to find home decor!
The dresser was more of a splurge but I know it will be a great piece she will love for years and she really needed the space! If you follow my room decor closely you may recognize this beautiful silver mirror from our guestroom! I ordered the mirror that she really wanted and once it got here she decided that I was correct and it was a bit too small. I simply switched this mirror in here and she loves it!
This Parson’s desk has been in her room for many years and it still looks great. It has been a huge blessing to have put these desks in the girl’s rooms along time ago. The clear chair is one of a pair I found on Amazon. I have the “original” Kartell design Ghost Chairs in my breakfast room but didn’t want to spend the money here. They look almost identical! The beautiful stone lamp on her desk is the other half of the pair I ordered originally for her nightstands. They are now broken apart and serve as desk lamps in both her room and her younger sisters that I shared with you in Beautiful Blue and White Teen Bedroom a few weeks ago. This desk has been well worth the little bit extra as it has held up well and provides plenty of surface space for her lamp, computer, planner and notebook. A must for online school days!
Pro tip: Have glass custom cut for dressers desks and other table tops to protect their surfaces. It is not very expensive to do this. I had our local glass company cut glass tops and inserts for the her desk.
One of my favorite elements in her room is her custom Jenn Thatcher Art. Jen is so wonderful to work with. My daughter looked at some of her work, selected colors that she loved to add life to her room, and Jen made it a reality. I love that this is the main focal point when you enter her room as you can see below also. Since I worked on this during “safer at home” time of Covid, I was thrilled to find these ready-made cushions on Amazon! They are indoor outdoor material and a perfect fit here. They come in several sizes and colors.
Once we had everything installed and it was a peaceful gray and white retreat she decided maybe she needed a little bit more color! I have to say I sort of expected this. The room that we were replacing was one that she had designed in fifth grade and was filled with colorful prints from Lilly Pulitzer and Brunschwig and Fils. I picked up these beautiful Belgian linen pillow’s during that Wisteria closeout sale. I’ve linked similar colors in the boutique below. These added the perfect touch of life to a happy teenager’s room.
We had quite a debate about what to do over her bed. We saw similar artwork on Instagram and re-created it with a touch of color with these paper and printed butterflies.
I hope that you picked up some ideas for your bedrooms in this Glamorous Gray and White Bedroom with a Pop of Color. I included the items in her room and others we loved when planning her room as well. I am working on a few more room refresh projects and can’t wait to share them with you! Please let me know any questions you have in the comments below.

What color paint did you use?
Love everything you did!!
Hi Cassandra!
Thank you so much! The paint is a custom color but is closest to Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee, Icicle and White Dove. Start with those and see what works best with your light.
