I’m so excited to share this peaceful space with you today. I actually spend a lot of time in our Master Bedroom during the day. It is a calming retreat from the hustle and bustle of a busy household. In fact, I perched myself right back in bed yesterday morning with a great view of the entire room and our Outdoor Living Area to write this post!
Our Master Bedroom is another space that has been a work in progress for several years but not intentionally. When I was a newlywed, my mother-in-law who is an interior designer, told me, “You want to do your Master Bedroom first because you’ll start on the rest of the house and it’ll be hard to go back.” Well, she was right! I followed her advice in each home we’ve owned but when we moved out 4 years ago to remodel and then back in, I only did a few of the large pieces in this room and moved on to the family room, the study, the kitchen, the girls’ room, media room, well you get the idea! (I’ll be sharing these rooms with you soon as well!)
I wanted this room to be very serene. I love the fun pops of color in our family room and kitchen but crave a soothing space, too. Our master has a wall of windows that are flanked in white duchess satin drapery on silver rods with crystal finials. I have blackout shades on the windows as well because I have to have complete darkness when I sleep and 5 windows is A LOT of fabric if they were to close. In the center of the windows is gorgeous art from my friend Jenn Thatcher. You’ve seen her work in our family room as well. This piece was also custom and captures the colors of the room with a soft blue highlight.

The stainless steel canopy bed was the starting point for the bedroom. I wanted a bed completely different the dark, traditional one I had before and this gorgeous design caught my eye. I had talked to a metal artist about making one based on a design that I had seen in a magazine but was so glad to find this metal canopy bed with tufted headboard that was almost exact! It would also be beautiful with gauzy drapes. A friend has the brass version and it is beautiful as well.
The silver leaf nightstands with brass hardware are the perfect side tables. We don’t have as much storage in our home as I would like so I keep the linens in our nightstands along with the books I’m reading and tons of magazines! They are topped with large Venetian mirrors and my custom selenite lamps similar to these. This vignette is the perfect touch of glam for me and not too much for my hubby. The Aerin Jacqueline Chandelier adds another touch of glamour and it was actually the first thing I purchased for the room!
All of our bedding is from Peacock Alley. The preview I shared a few weeks ago gives you much more detail but I could not be more thrilled with the Italian linens and the custom pillow from Kevin O’Brien for Peacock Alley. The intricate quilting of the Hamilton Coverlet and Euro Shams in white perfectly complement the limited edition coverlet in Platinum. The sheeting was custom embroidered in Platinum and is available here in 25 thread colors!
One of my favorite pieces in our Master Bedroom is this beautiful Thatcher bench, (named for Jenn Thatcher) from Parker and Hyde. I love the soft, fuzzy Mongolian lamb cover. So do my girls! I had to keep them off of this until we photographed it (sticky fingers!!) and that was no easy feat! You’ve also seen this great company and their clutches before. Their furniture line is just gorgeous and I’ll share more with you soon.
The platinum velvet chairs and ottoman with both greek key accents were custom created by my good friend and talented designer Roz Murphy. We spend many nights cozied up here with the girls watching movies or our favorite TV show Designated Survivor. These chairs are very similar and available in 10 colors.
I accessorized the upholstered ottoman with a grey leather tray, one of my favorite candles and lots of reading materials. Nicholson Hardie once again created the most gorgeous orchid arrangement for me. This gray and white sand pattern is just perfect. I love the agate accent. The fiddle leaf fig also from Nicholson Hardie really completes the room. This traditional ghost table holds a beautiful bone box and hides all the remotes.
I hope you’ve enjoyed a peek into my dream space. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I forgot any resources you’d like to know.
Sweet dreams!
