As school winds down and I’m packing the girls for camp, I can’t help but thinking about a getaway with my husband while they are away. One of our favorite hidden gems is Imanta near Punta de Mita, on Mexico’s Gold Coast. This boutique hotel is truly off the beaten path and surrounded by lush jungle and feels a world away but is easy to get to.
We stayed in Casa Werika with a private pool. Each casa is beautifully designed and positioned to take advantage of privacy and the views. There is nothing like falling to sleep to the crashing of the ocean below.
Only 45 minutes from Puerto Vallarta, Imanta is easy to get to and a place to truly be away from it all. Of course, we surfed with our favorite guide while we were there but that was the only reason we left this special resort. The Punta Mita resort with restaurants at the Four Seasons and St. Regis (another favorite!) as well as the Village of Punta Mita are 15 minutes away. You can read more area recommendations in this post.
The two restaurants have great menus and a good variety of local yet inspired cuisine. The rooftop bar, The Observatory, is a great place to watch the sunset and take in the stars.
The Jungle Spa opened the day we left but I got a private tour. The private treatment “rooms” are open air, shaded by the jungle foliage and palm trees. Beautiful pathways imprinted with palm fronds lead you from one space to the next. I can’t wait to experience this spa on our next visit.
If you are looking for a true getaway but easily accessible from DFW or other major airports, this Imanta is your answer.
Happy Summer Dreaming!
