Italian Ski Trip: Dolomites Packing List

by | Packing Lists, Travel | 4 comments

Beginning this weekend, I have one trip after another and I’m ready for it!  I’m thrilled to be heading to a new destination, the Dolomites in Italy to ski for Spring Break!

As I shared yesterday, Spring Break this year will be twice as nice with two trips.  Beginning with Punta Mita with my oldest and two of her roommates this Sunday and then skiing in the Dolomites in Italy the next week!! We skied in the French Alps during Christmas break a few years ago and I can’t wait to see the Italian Alps specifically the Dolomites.   I shared the beach packing list for Punta Mita yesterday if you are headed to the beach.  I love to travel and create these packing lists so I hope they are helpful for you, too.

I will only have a one day turnaround so I’m trying to be super organized.  Making these packing lists helps me to do that.  If you’ve read my post on How to Pack in a Carry On for a Week, you know that I am a spreadsheet gal and create a spreadsheet of what I’m wearing and when to help me pack as well.

We will be skiing, exploring the charming village of Ortisei and surrounding areas and just enjoying the gorgeous views of the Dolomite region.  The Dolomites are part of the Alps or Alpi range in Italy.  I’m excited to visit a new area and will share a travel guide when we return.  I’m not a big skier so I will ski only 1 or 2 days. I’d bring more base layers and socks if I was skiing more days. I love to visit the local stores, coffee shops and generally enjoy being in a new place.  And, of course, I’ll check out the spa. Our hotel and it’s spa both look gorgeous!

Here is my packing list for our Italian Ski Trip in the Dolomites:

Ski Gear

  • 1 Ski Jacket
  • 2 Ski Pants
  • 2 Sets Warm Base Layers
  • 2 Ski Sweaters or Fleece
  • 2 Pair Tall Wool Socks
  • 1 Fleece Neckwarmer/Gator
  • 1 Pair of Ski Gloves
  • 1 Pair of Ski Goggles

Apres Ski and Sightseeing/Shopping

  • 4 Pair of Jeans: Black, Dark Wash, Ivory
  • 6 Sweaters: Cashmere Turtlenecks, Cozy Ivory Fleece, Fair Isle Sweaters
  • 2 Pair Leather Pants (My favorites are below)
  • Short Fleece-lined Boots
  • Tall Fleece Lined Boots
  • Cashmere Turtleneck Dress
  • Fair Isle Turtleneck Dress
  • Chic Detail Sweaters for Dinner
  • Chic Puffer
  • Shearling Jacket
  • Shearling Vest
  • Crossbody Bag
  • Dressier Handbag for Dinners

Since I will be spending more time sightseeing and shopping, this is the more fun part for me to dream of packing!  I have shared the pieces below I’ll be packing and more for inspiration.  I’ll either travel in my favorite travel dress or Spanx Air Essentials set for the flights.  You can see my favorite travel outfits here.

      Hi Patti!
It’s harder to do for a ski trip. The last time we skied in France we shipped the ski gear with a luggage shipping company and then took all our other clothing in our carry ons. That way we guaranteed our ski things arrived. We checked them on the way back since we weren’t as concerned if they didn’t make a connection. We always put an Apple AirTag in anything checked! Hope that helps!

How are you going to pack all the heavy ski clothes, boots, ski helmet, goggles, etc in a carry on? Guess you will be renting ski boots and skis. thank you

Hi! My husband is checking his skis so we will check a bag with those. My daughter and I will just rent ski gear. Last time we skied in Europe, we used a luggage shipping company to send our ski clothes ahead and check them on the way back. We took everything else in our carry ons! :)
