How about we try something a little different for Cinco De Mayo this year? Don’t worry. I’m still a Margarita-loving Texas girl but I like to branch out as well!
My dear friend and now Maestra de Tequila, Gela Gallardo, has created a wonderful new tequila brand, Volcan de Mi Tierra and I’m thrilled to share her La Paloma, or rather La Valoma recipe with you.
Volcan de Mi Tierra Blanco was created over many years by Gela from her vision. A native of Mexico, Gela is passionate and talented. In Dallas, you can find Volcan de Mi Tierra at Pogo’s and Specs.
I’m excited that the weather is warm and to begin adding recipes to my Make This Weekend series. I seem to be more inspired to create with the weather is warm and the sun is shining! I hope you’ll join me in making one of these this weekend and throughout the summer.
- 2 oz Volcan Tequila Blanco
- ¾ oz Lime Juice
- ¾ oz Agave Syrup
- 1½ oz Grapefruit Juice
- Pinch of Salt
- Grapefruit flavored sparkling water or soda or soda water
- Add first 4 ingredients in a shaker or to your ice filled glass.
- Pour over ice.
- Top with grapefruit sparkling water like Topo Chico.
- Enjoy!
Salud!

This post is not sponsored. I’m simply sharing something fabulous that my dear friend has spent years creating! So proud of you, Gela!
Thank you for sharing this – it was a fun variation to our cinco de mayo neighborhood gathering. Also I love your top in these photos. Can you share details on where I can find? You are so talented! Thank you!
Hi Shannon! Thank you so much! This top is “vintage” Tory Burch. You might try searching eBay. I’ll let you know if I see it again!
