I can’t believe I am finally sitting down to share this update on our Lakehouse remodel. I’ve been so busy and have so much to share, it’s been hard to find the time! I have truly loved sharing this process here with you and more on Instagram and Instagram stories. Your feedback and encouragement have really kept me going on days that got crazy!
I am going answer some of your most asked questions in this post and a few photos as well as room design schemes here. You can see the entire process saved on my Instagram Stories Highlights and Under Lake House and Lake Reno 2 and Lake Reno 3.
Where is your Lakehouse located?
Our Lakehouse is located on the west side of Cedar Creek Lake. It is a little over an hour from our home in Dallas.
How did you choose this lake? What other lakes did you consider?
We chose this lake because my husband‘s father and his wife have a house here. We felt like it would not be very nice for us to purchase a home on another lake. Other lakes we considered are Lake Cypress Springs and Lake Athens. We also have friends with houses on Lake Richland Chambers and Lake Texoma. Although some of these other lakes are more clear and springfe, not a man-made reservoir like Cedar Creek. We are thrilled with our choice because it is so close to our home in Dallas.
What paint colors did you use?
I used Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace. I used semi gloss on all of the trim and also semi gloss on the walls. I love how this true soft white brightened the space. It really feels so much larger after taking away all of the brown tones.
What flooring did you use?
It is LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile). They color we used is Texas Traditions Rigid Core Pro Ulta SPC in Dusty Pear. I purchased it through Cedar Creek Carpet and Tile.
How have you been able to make so many decisions so quickly?
There are two answers actually to this question:
- I had about four months to think and dream about what I would do to improve this home.
- Wendy Cimorelli from Farfalla Design really helped me clarify my vision and make decisions. Using a professional designer whether you are someone who has vision or needs help creating one, can make all of the difference! Wendy was a huge factor in this for me. You can read more about Wendy and how she’s helped me in this post and this one.
We have finished painting the entire inside. All of the trim and wall color are the same as I shared above. Paint is an easy way to make a huge difference!
All of the bathrooms have been updated and renovated. We used tile from Floor and Decor, Daltile and replaced all of the flooring with the LVT. I’ll get links and add them all here soon.
I am continuing to work on the kitchen design with the cabinet maker. I need to take time to select the appliances so he can do the drawings!
Next we move on to the exterior repairing all of the trim work and painting the entire house! I can’t wait for that transformation! I loved doing this last spring at my home in Dallas. We took it from a darker gray to a light gray. You can see that transformation on my Instagram Highlights as well under House Paint.
Interior Details and Links
I love sharing the walk-throughs with you and I get so many requests for links to items. I do my best to send them to you but wanted to create a place where I can send you for all the details you’re looking for. Everything will be linked on my new Lake House Renovation page beginning today.
Below you will find some inspiration boards for several of the rooms as well as current photos. There is still quite a bit that I’m waiting on to be delivered and will share more as they arrive. You can see more on the Lake House Renovation page even if I don’t have a photo or design board yet, as well as items I considered for this project.
