Recently, I was fortunate to attend a special luncheon in honor of my friend Kimberly Schelgel Whitman and the release of her new book Monograms For The Home: The Art Of Making Your Mark. This book, her seventh, is a lovely collection of monograms photographed in the homes of her friends and family as well as her own beautiful home.
If you don’t know Kim, she is one of the most genuine people I know. Always gracious and welcoming. Making her the perfect person to wear the “hats” of Lifestyle expert, TV host, blogger, party planner and social media aficionado, and media spokesperson for high-profile companies. She’s appeared on numerous TV shows, including Today, Nate Berkus and Access Hollywood. Author of six other books, she is also an Editor-at-Large for Southern Living.
In this book, she shares the history of monograms, their innumerable uses and monogram etiquette. Did you know a married couples combined initials are a duogram not monogram? That barware should have the gentleman’s monogram? A monogram with letters are intertwined is a cipher? Well, that detail and much more are in Kim’s beautiful creation that is truly a feast for the eyes.
This beautiful luncheon at John Cain Sargent’s gorgeous, white photography studio in the Knox Henderson area offered a sneak peek at Kim’s new linen line Halo Home by KSW. How darling are these monogrammed napkins and Mason Jar salads. You know I’ll be recreating these for you. She had a hand towel monogrammed for each of us. The ultimate party favor!
Already in it’s third printing since being released on September 1, Monograms For The Home is the perfect gift for the hostess or anyone who appreciates finer things. I love that Kim dedicated the book to her grandmothers, “who taught me to appreciate the intricate beauty that can come from a single needle and thread.”
