We made it! Everyone is out of school and I hosted a fun 8th grade graduation party at my home for my middle daughter, her friends and their families to kick it off. I’ll share that with you soon!
Today, I want to share my Bright White Summer Kitchen Update. I’m excited to join my interior design blogger friends for a Lovliest Looks of Summer Home Tour. Each of these fabulous ladies has shared tips and trends to make your home a welcoming place this summer. All their information is at the end of this post.
I recently completed my kitchen and breakfast rooms and shared it with you here and here. I love adding a few touches for each season to freshen up the rooms in my home. For my summer kitchen update, I’ve focused on adding elements that add cheerful color and keep healthy snacks at the ready for my girls and their friends.
My girls love fruit and keeping this large woven basket full of fruit is a great way to keep healthy snacks at the ready. I’ve added three glass jars with silver lids to the counter with snack bars, sea salt popcorn and a nut free trail mix for variety. This week, I’ll be filling another jar with my homemade gluten-free, nut-free honey granola now that I have more time to bake. It’s great alone or on these breakfast bowls. These are the same jars we have in the Cabana as well.
Another thing I do each season is update the cookbooks I keep at hand. The Mexico Cookbook is so pretty I keep it out year-round but I’m determined to really dig into it this summer. My other summer favorites are The Sprouted Kitchen, My New Roots, A New Way to Dinner, Endless Summer Cookbook, What Katie Ate: The Weekend, Love and Lemons, Good Food Good Life, and It’s All Easy. I’m excited to start the next summer section of this great cookbook I told you about here. This is also the landing for my handbag obviously!
Also next to the sink, I pick up a seasonal hand soap to have next to a seashell the girls found that I keep my rings in while I clean the kitchen. I’m always putting them somewhere random and having a landing place here and in my master bath keep me from hunting for them!
With it already so hot here, staying hydrated is a big focus for me! Two summers ago, I got heat exhaustion after a very hot soccer tournament and can now very easily get overheated if I’m not well hydrated. The girls are very active so my goal for us is to drink at least one of these drink dispensers or more of fruit flavored water each day. I’ll change the flavors to keep it interesting and fun. We’re loving these acrylic cups that match my everyday dishes.
I’ve switched out the pillows on the sofa where the girls love to sit and read to add some fun color. The pink linen pillow and ikat pattern pillow to pick up the warm orange, tan in the rug. I love the fun colors of this rug and how it really pulls all the colors of the room together. You can learn more about the kid-proof fabric on the sofa here and here.
My Look: Embroidered Top / White Shorts / Nude Sandal / Ashley Pittman Earrings
I can’t believe it is already so hot so my summer style is going to consist of light tops like this embroidered beauty or this breezy top with shorts or easy dresses like this and this. You can see these and all my other favorites in my new Summer Shop. I’m updating it almost daily with great summer finds.
