It’s been a while since I’ve done a My Favorite Five and thought it was time to share a new one with you today. This weekend is Memorial Day weekend so I wanted to offer you some recipes you can make this weekend including BBQ chicken, desserts, and more! You can find more My Favorite Five posts here.
You know I also love to set a beautiful table for any holiday or just because! You can find inspiration for your table here.
We make this chicken as often as we can especially when my parents are in town. We call it Pop’s Chicken or Wicker’s Chicken. It is marinated for two days in this fabulous barbecue sauce from Southeast Missouri near where my dad grew up and I was born: Wicker’s Barbecue Marinade and Baste. Nothing says Memorial Day more than an outdoor cookout…and this is the perfect recipe!
You all know my passion for a good margarita. Find all of my margarita recipes here. This cool, creamy drink is delicious, different, and refreshing. The perfect summer drink. I tested out many recipes for this after trying it on a Cabo trip. I added the toasted coconut to my recipe because I love that extra flavor. Do you have a favorite margarita? This Coconut Margarita and my Serrano Margarita are my two favorites! One’s sweet and one’s a little spicy!
This White Bean Grilled Bruschetta with Radish & Cilantro is a great addition to your Memorial Day weekend menu! It’s a satisfying appetizer that combines the grill flavor with a creamy spread and a spicy crunch.
This potato salad is always a big hit with family and friends. I make it for Memorial Day, Labor Day, July 4th, etc. It’s the perfect side for any cookout or summer menus!
We love berries around here and this pie is a family favorite! Making a Rustic Pie or Galette is my favorite because it doesn’t have to be perfect. That takes A LOT of pressure off. This is great warm with ice cream or whipped cream. It’s even yummy the next day for breakfast.
Bonus Recipe: Strawberry Avocado Salsa
I wanted to add a bonus recipes because they’re so good and worth sharing! The last recipe is Strawberry Avocado Salsa. I shared this recipe last summer. Strawberries are one of my favorite fruits and in the summer they are at their natural peak. When thinking of summer recipes to share, I knew I wanted to use these red gems. Adding the creaminess of the avocado and a hint of serrano heat, it’s the perfect combination.
I hope you enjoy some or all of these recipes during whatever Memorial Day weekend celebrations you have going on!
