Happy National Pizza Day! Homemade pizza baked on the wood fired Green Egg is one of our favorites. The result is restaurant style and quality pizza at home!
A few weeks ago, I met Karen Morgan from Blackbird Bakery in Austin. She gave me a sample of all her flour mixes. She developed these over a 7 year period and are really fantastic gluten free flour blends. Stay tuned for a post on more of her products!
I used the Blackbird Bread and Pizza crust mix. It was simple to mix and a fantastic crust. Pop it on the hot pizza stone, add sauce, cheese and toppings.
We let everyone personalize their pizzas. Pepperoni for the girls.
Proscuitto, fresh garlic and red pepper flakes finished with a drizzle of Stonewall Kitchen’s Roasted Garlic Oil for the adults.
Grilled pizza on the Green Egg is one of our favorite meals. It elevates even your basic frozen pizza…because we all do that sometimes, right!?!? My favorite “cheat” here is Against the Grain. You can find it at Whole Foods.
PS – To celebrate National Pizza Day, Penne Pomodoro, with locations across the Dallas Metroplex, will be celebrating with unlimited pizza toppings from 4pm until close. They have an amazing gluten free menus for Brunch and Lunch & Dinner, too!
