One of our favorite parts of our trip to Spain was five sunny days in Port de Sóller , Mallorca. Today, I’m sharing a travel guide to this charming coastal village in my Port de Sóller Mallorca Travel Guide.
After a few busy days in Barcelona, we took an early morning flight to the island of Mallorca. We wanted this part of our vacation to truly be that, a vacation. No hustle and bustle just relaxing and soaking in family time in a beautiful, quiet destination. Because we planned our trip about three weeks before departure, I did not do a lot of research on Mallorca, so when we arrived we were a bit surprised at how big it is! In my mind it was tiny like Ibiza, another one of the Balearic Islands. We landed in the city of Palma and had a car pick us up and take us to the Jumeriah Resort and Spa in Port de Sóller.
Port de Sóller, Mallorca
Port de Sóller is separated from the rest of Mallorca by the Tramuntana mountain range and has a rich history. There is now a tunnel but for almost 100 years a train connected Port de Sóller with Palma and the rest of Mallorca. Due to the remote location and the Spanish military using it as a training base, Port de Sóller had development standards that protected this charming village.
Getting there
We flew on Iberian Airlines from Barcelona to Palma, Mallorca. There are direct flights to Palma from JFK International that began early this year making it very easy to get to Mallorca.
Where to Stay
The Jumeriah Port de Sóller Resort and Spa is perched on a cliff overlooking the sparking Balearic Sea. The hotel is right at a mile from one end to the other as you can see in the water view photo above. It is truly beautiful and has a garden running through it. Just below is the the picturesque coastal village of Port de Sóller and its protected harbor, Marina Tramontana, filled with beautiful boats from small to mega yachts. The most of rooms overlook the Balearic Sea with endless views. I’ve saved our whole stay including a room tour on Instagram stories.
What to Do
Trolley to Sóller
Thanks a classic trolley car train through the valley to the town of Sóller. There is a tiny museum where you get off. Be sure to check it because there was wonderful small exhibit of Picasso. Be sure to have gelato!
Shopping
There are a lot of quaint local shops in Sóller and Port de Sóller. We all purchased fragrance at Agua de Baleares in Sóller for our souvenirs. When you travel in a carry on, small souvenirs are a must and fragrance is our favorite! ABD creates gorgeous fragrances from the signature scents is the Balearic Islands like Orange, Sea Salt, and Lemon.
Boat Day
Rent a boat and get out on the sea! You’ve probably guessed by now from the Barcelona travel guide and the Santa Barbara travel guide, I love a boat day and to see where we are visiting from the water. We chartered a 51 ft sailboat with Perfect Charters Mallorca. The concierge was helpful with this but I did book it on my own. We sailed for 5 hours making stops to snorkel and use the paddle boards. We stopped for lunch at a charming hillside restaurant in Torrent de Pareis, Es Vergeret. We climbed a dirt trail from the dock to the restaurant. You need to be pretty agile to make the trek. You could also drive to this restaurant. It was a magical day! I highly recommend booking with Perfect Charter and requesting Captain Max if you can.
Spa at the Jumeriah
I’m regretting that I didn’t make time to go to the spa because it was so beautiful. We did, however, make good use of their work out room before we just relaxed by the pool several days.
Infinity Pool
The gorgeous infinity pool was a perfect place to relax and enjoy the views. The restaurant here was delicious and where we ate lunch twice.
Cycling
Cycling is a big deal in Mallorca. My husband loves his road bike and wishes he’d done this while we were here. The concierges are so helpful though and it would have been great if he’d planned ahead. We saw several organized biking trips that stayed one or two nights at the Jumeriah as they biked around Mallorca. There are several bike shops and tour options in Port Sóller.
Where to Eat
Canribes
Canribes is where we ate the fist night. It was amazing! Best sole I’ve ever had! The entire menu was very fresh and everything we ordered was fabulous. They were great with our allergies. Make a reservation before you arrive and ask for a table outdoors.
Suculenta de Port Soller
Located on the center of the marina, this glass restaurant offers a great view of the harbor and village great restaurant. Suculenta’s menu is fresh and local. They were very good with our allergies, too.
Sunset Lounge at the Jumeriah
Offering the best views of Port Sóller and the marina, the Sunset Lounge is the best place to, you guessed it, watch the sunset! We had a tapas style dinner here and fabulous red and white sangria.
Es Fanals at the Jumeriah
We loved this restaurant at resort. The food and service were amazing! Overlooking the infinity pool and sea, fresh fish and local produce are feature on this Spanish menu. A very special dinner to end our time here. We asked to be seated outdoors but they have indoor dinning as well.
There were several other restaurants that were highly recommended from my research and from the hotel concierges. However, because we planned our trip so close to arrival they were booked. I highly recommend contacting the concierge at the Jumeriah and booking dinners in advance. It’s a small town and busy in the summer months.
We loved our time in Port Sóller and would love to return and explore more of Mallorca from here! Please let me know if you have any questions. I’m always happy to answer them. For packing ideas, you can see Packing List for Summer in Spain and What I Wore in Spain this Summer.

It has been on my bucket list. It looks beautiful! How many days would you recommend staying there?
Hi Joanie
We were there 5 days and it was perfect for us to see the area and just relax at the gorgeous resort! There is a lot more to see on Mallorca and that would also give you time to go to other areas of the island. We wanted downtime between our two cities.

Hi Joanie
You would love it! We stayed 5 nights and thought it was perfect although we could have stayed more and ventured further afield on the island. It is much larger than we thought. We also had Madrid ahead of us so wanted some relaxing time on the trip, too.
