Where were you on September 11? My oldest daughter had just slept through the night two nights in a row so I, too, was asleep when my phone rang and one of my best friends was crying and screaming to turn on the T.V. I turned it on just in time to see the second plane hit the Twin Towers. Neither of us could fathom what we had just seen. My mind immediately went to friends in NYC and three other friends who were on planes at that time on their way to NCY for Fashion Week. I was so relieved when we knew they were all safe.
Today we remember those who were lost that day in NYC, DC and Shanksville, PA, those left behind to grieve and the men and women who rushed in to help others. Please join me and take time to day to remember those lost and their families and friends as well as be grateful for your own.
We visited the 9/11 Memorial in NYC with our middle daughter a few years ago. It is a beautiful memorial of that tragic day. Such a peaceful place to remember. It was powerful this year to visit the 9/11 Memorial in DC with that same daughter, who had been sleeping that morning.
We will never forget…
Alicia
