Sea Island, Georgia is such a magical place. We were there for Spring Break this year with our girls and can’t wait to get back. The gorgeous setting and wholesome, family atmosphere were exactly what we were looking for…that and a place we could drive instead of fly.
With so much going on in our household (two businesses, three girls, three schools and life!) we were very last minute planning Spring Break this year. Like very late…10 days out! Not my typical M.O. at all! So I turned to Inspirato for help. They have a lot of inventory so I knew I could find something with their easy search system. They also have the really great last minute trips called Jaunts. These trips are announced each Wednesday at 2pm CST. My rep told me of several great trips for our time frame and we chose Sea Island, Georgia.
Have you been to Sea Island, Georgia? I’m not sure what took us so long. I’ve always heard what an amazing place it was but it was never really on my radar. The entire time I felt a bit like we were in a movie. Every thing is so pristine and quaint. We rented a gorgeous 4 bedroom home decorated in Lowcountry style on a quiet circle just a stone’s throw from the Cloisters, the hotel in Sea Island. Everyone had their own space but it was certainly large enough for two families with the kids sharing rooms.
Another reason we chose Sea Island over the typical 30-A beach trip (which I do love, btw) was that if the weather was cold, there was still a lot to do. We had full privileges at the Cloisters Hotel, Spa and Beach Club, winner of the Conde Nast Reader’s Choice Award in 2014. We were so glad this was our criteria as it was quite chilly as a cold front blew in the day before we arrived. The home we rented had a heated pool so instant entertainment for the girls. The Cloisters Beach Club has a movie theater that shows several family friendly movies each day, a game room, darling new sweet shop with fabulous ice cream and the resort pool is heated as well. There is also an equestrian center, work out facilities, golf, tennis and more. All great ways so get out of the sun in the summer, too!
A favorite past time in Sea Island is to ride bikes and see the beautiful homes surrounded but lush lawns filled with blooming landscape. Truly a step back in time and a slower pace that is so needed for families today. One evening we went to the Golf Club for cocktails and watched their bagpiper play at sunset. Another magical moment.
One of the most memorable things we did while there was play bingo…yes, bingo. Sea Island Bingo is a big deal! Everyone gets dressed up, think Easter Sunday and coats for the gents, and heads to the Cloisters for Bingo and cocktails with a really fun host, “Ringo Bingo.” This great gentleman host enters the room singing a Sea Island tune to Copacobana. I real throwback! It felt like a 50s experience from the movies. I wish I could post the iPhone video I took. My girls got a huge kick out of the entire night and had so much fun, we went twice!
I’m trying to be a bit faster in bringing travel content to you soon after our trip. Feeling like this is a bit faster than the 2 years it took for me to share London and Paris! I’ll be sharing Jamaica, Lake Tahoe and my trip next week to Scotland over the next few weeks.

Funny! I know this house. Belongs to a friend.
Hi! This home is actually owned by Inspirato (they own or fully lease for several years all properties) but I’m sure there are several that look like this one. I hope your friend invites you often! Thanks for following The Lush List! I so appreciate you. 🙂
The Rickman/Cole clan is headed there next summer! We can’t wait!
