I’m excited to bring this kitchen reveal to you today. A few weeks ago, I shared our breakfast room. It is one of he most cheerful rooms in the house and you all loved it! There have been so many requests for the details and to show more of this room since I started the blog. As I’ve said, I never felt like it was quite finished so hadn’t photographed it other than the Holiday Home Tour and given you glimpses in recipe posts. The Holiday post really made me get my act together and “finish” these rooms.
Just like the breakfast room, bright white kitchen features pops of hot pink and turquoise, two of my favorite colors. We gutted the kitchen about 4 years ago and this photo was my inspiration. I loved collecting ideas for this room and our entire home on Pinterest. It’s one of my favorite past times and so easy to get lost in a rabbit hole! You can follow me on Pinterest here and see idea boards for each room in the house. I’ll put all the paint colors, marble type, hardware and other resources at the bottom of this post.
I spend a lot of time in here cooking and also working at the island like I showed you here. My home office is a work in progress I’ll be sharing soon, but the light is just too good in here! The breakfast room is part of this room.
The Kitchen section features a huge island. 12 ft x 5 ft to be exact. The original design had a small island barely wider than the cooktop and only 4 ft deep. There was also a bar that divided the kitchen from the breakfast room. All of the passage ways were about 3 ft wide and as the girls grew and were more self sufficient in the kitchen, it became tight in here. No wonder the family before us with 4 children moved when their children got into middle school!
We looked in to moving as well but I was really thrilled when we decided to stay and remodel. The chance to design a kitchen from scratch was a dream come true! I originally wanted a really cool range but because it wasn’t a new build that got scraped pretty quickly because of venting issues. Oh, well! I got everything else I wanted.
Open spaces, a large island and HUGE refrigerator. Because my girls have food allergies, I cook a lot as you know. Having a large refrigerator was top on my list after Danby Olympian Marble and a range. We eat super healthy most of the time so room for fresh food is important to me. This Viking refrigerator and freezer combination gave me the largest capacity available on the market at the time. My pantry has mostly small electrics, cookbooks and crafts in it in addition to a few canned goods and gluten free flours and cake mixes. Stay tuned for an organizational post on this soon, too!
One of my favorite details in the kitchen is the china cabinet. It so beautifully showcases my favorite Juliska dinnerware and serving pieces. I had the fretwork designed to do just that. We even measured a few pieces to make sure they would show in the openings.
I know a lot of people are afraid of marble in their kitchens but it is so beautiful! I’ll admit I was a bit of a psycho about it for about 6 months but now I’m more “C’est la vie.” That attitude actually came about after one of my girls broke a very large pickle jar on the island about a month after we moved in and within seconds it became etched (the finish removed.) I learned that it is easily refinished and to move on. I’ve not had it touched since and it really doesn’t need it. Sure it has a few “etchings” on it but no one notices but me. It’s been over 4 years.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this tour of my bright white kitchen. I’ve listed all the sources below and linked similar items if mine is not available. Please let me know if you have any questions!

It is gorgeous Alicia!! Love every detail!! 🙂 xo
Alicia,
This is so fabulous. My kitchen is very dark and until we move I’m loving other people’s white kitchens. The little coffee nook is my favorite area. It is just the perfect little area tucked away in it’s own little space. The colors are so inviting too.
